Hello World

First post here….

Welcome to my blog… if you’re reading this and you know nothing about scripting I ask you, “why don’t you script?” For me the thought of coding as a language is what really makes it as powerful as it can be, sometimes you just want to tell a computer what to do, for me scripting is how to ‘speak’ to a computer. Most of the scripts that I have written have been born out of pure laziness, not wanting to spend hour apon hour doing the same thing over and over again.

Scripting is the new Latin, there’s so many opportunities and possibilities to create things, you can’t rely on there always being a button that someone else has coded for you. On this blog I’m going to try to explain how to use Maxscript in 3ds Max to tell Max what you want to do. I know scripting is scary but once you get your head into it, it’s the most powerful thing you can learn, and I’ll try keep it simple for beginners to learn and from an approach which will mean even if you have no background in computer science (I don’t!) then you’ll be able to understand it.

I believe in practical learning, learning by solving problems. I’ll be creating some tutorials where I set out with a goal and show the different development paths you can take to the solution and how to deal with the process of finding out what code to write and how to solve any problems.
